Law 89/2017, of 21 August approved the Legal Regime of the Central Register of Beneficial Ownership, with the purpose of constituting a "database, with sufficient, accurate and current information on the natural person or persons who, even if indirectly or through a third party, have ownership or effective control of the entities subject to it".
